This is a simple design spreadsheet that will help you design solenoids. It is quite easy and straightforward to use, as all the Kezar Engineering spreadsheets. With just a few inputs you can get the value of the magnetomotive force, power dissipated as heat, magnetic flux and much more.
This solenoid design spreadsheet was created to aid engineers designing solenoids. It is quite easy and straightforward to use, you only need to fill 10 inputs (current, number of turns, number of layers, wire diameter, coil material resistance, coil material resistance, plung axial displacement, plunger diameter, etc) and you will get 20 outputs (magnetomotive force, power dissipated as heat, wire resistance, magnetic flux density, resulting force, total reluctance through magnetic circuit, etc). The next version will have a chart showing the force/displacement (the resulting force decrease as the plunger moves).
